Vietoris wins for Germany at Taupo

Christian Vietoris became the third Team Germany driver to win in A1GP by taking the Taupo feature race today

Vietoris was utterly calm through a chaotic race, following Loic Duval (Team France) until the first round of pitstops and leapfrogging him at that point. The Formula Three racer held on in style to take the win, surviving intense pressure from Duval in the middle segment of the race.

Team France then lost out to Team Canada's Robert Wickens at the second stops, which ensured Wickens took second place ahead of Duval.

Neel Jani (Team Switzerland) has now lost the points lead after another disastrous outing. Jani leapt into the lead at the start, but was adjudged to have jumped it and was given a drive-through penalty. A run-in with Team Pakistan's Adam Khan then ruled out any chance of a points finish.

All this means Jonny Reid (New Zealand) takes the points lead after finishing fourth in the feature. He is two points ahead of Jani and Duval.
