The inside line on the Hungarian GP

The Williams-BMW success has finally bumped Michael Schumacher from his pre-race favourite's perch, with Juan Pablo Montoya now firmly ensconced as Paddy Power's man to beat at Hungaroring. The Columbian is quoted at 7-4, with Schumacher Sr at 9-4

For my money though, take a careful look at Ralf Schumacher, surely the best value at 4-1. Okay, Ferrari dominated last year, but that was with a shorter wheelbase car and without the progress made this year by both Williams-BMW and Michelin.

On top of that, Ralf comes to Hungary fresh from a successful session in front of the FIA Court of Appeal and is not in the mood to cede he championship challenge just yet. Hungary is a race he really needs to win and, prior to his disastrous Hockenheim, looked like he has the upper hand over Montoya.

Oddly, Michael Schumacher is rated favourite to set the fastest race lap, at 5-2. In the light of current form and the temperatures expected in Hungary, you would surely go for a Williams driver, with Ralf at 7-4 and Juan Pablo at 13-8.

Many fancy that the Renaults will figure this weekend, but probably not for an outright win. An each-way bet at one-fifth of the odds is therefore worth consideration with both Fernando Alonso and Jarno Trulli quoted at 20-1.
