Team GBR dominate free practice

Team Great Britain look like the firm favourites for their home race at Brands Hatch on Sunday after a dominant show in free practice today

Although Robbie Kerr spun into the gravel at the tricky Westfield right-hander late in the afternoon session, this error came at the very end of a day on top of the timesheets.

At the time, he had been over half a second quicker than anyone else for almost a full hour, and there probably wasn't much harm in him exploring the limits.

Not only was Kerr the man to beat in the afternoon, but his colleague Oliver Jarvis had pulled off a similar performance in the morning rookie session, in which he was six tenths clear of Team USA driver Jonathan Summerton.

Jarvis' time, set on old tyres, was just a fraction quicker than Kerr managed in the afternoon.

Team India's Narain Karthikeyan was a front-runner all day, and was best of the rest in the afternoon session. Team France (Loic Duval), Team USA  and Team Germany (Nico Hulkenberg) were the only other drivers to dip under one minute 16 seconds today.

Hulkenberg made the most of his afternoon practice time - like Duval and Kerr, he had not been eligible for the morning session - and also found himself in the gravel at one point.

Team Germany have already secured the A1GP title, but Britain do have a chance of catching New Zealand for second place.
