Sears disappointed with drivers

David Sears has expressed his disappointment with Jonny Reid and Nico Hulkenberg after the pair were warned about making a clean start in Brno

Both the New Zealand and Germany teams are run by David Sears Motorsport, and after qualifying on the front row together they tangled at the first corner.

"To finish first you must first finish and the track is incredibly wide here at Brno," said Sears, "so why New Zealand and Germany should be rubbing wheels on the very first corner is anyone's guess."

Sears had apparently warned the drivers to take care at the start, telling them that with their speed advantage "it would be criminal to be banging wheels when there is a great result there for the taking."

Both cars subsequently retired from the race due to their first lap clash, and then the drivers had to make their way through the field in the second race, with both eventually scoring points.

"The pleasing part among the disappointment is that we have the quickest cars around," said Sears. "Now we need to refocus and prepare for next month's round in China."

Germany retained their lead in the standings, as Hulkenberg salvaged a fourth place finish from the feature race after starting 16th.
