Peugeot take first 1-2 at Nurburgring

Peugeot scored their first 1-2 of the season as they dominated the Le Mans Series race at the Nurburgring on Sunday

Pedro Lamy and Stephane Sarrazin took their second win of the season by one lap ahead of Marc Gene and Nicolas Minassian, as the French cars were able to lap three seconds faster than anyone else in the field.

The race was not completely trouble-free for the diesel cars though, as the No. 7 car of Gene and Minassian had to have its oil topped up during the race, and Gene had to change steering wheels at a pitstop due to a gear selection problem.

Pescarolo Sport continued their run as the best of the petrol cars as Emmanuel Collard and Jean-Christophe Boullion took third place, but the French pairing were four laps adrift of the race winners by the end of the six-hour race.

RML bounced back from a disappointing Le Mans as Mike Newton and Tommy Erdos took LMP2 honours with sixth place overall, while Stephane Ortelli and Soheil Ayari won the GT1 class in their Oreca-run Saleen.

The GT2 victory went to Robert Bell and Allan Simonsen in their Ferrari, while Marc Lieb and Xavier Pompidou finished on the same lap in their Porsche.
