New car to be based on 2007 Ferrari
The first A1GP chassis to be designed by Ferrari will be loosely based on the Italian manufacturer's current Formula One car, this week's Autosport reports

The deal for Ferrari to build engines and supply chassis designs was confirmed on Thursday morning, and the new cars will be ready to race in time for the 2008/09 season.
Speaking to this week's Autosport magazine, A1GP chairman Tony Teixeira said that while the car would be based on a Formula One car, it would need to be modified sufficiently to provide good racing.
"We will always have cars that will overtake each other, that's most important to us," he said. "F1 cars in their current format aren't going to do that for us.
"Obviously Ferrari has to start somewhere in designing our car, and we have agreed that it will start off looking like the F2007 Ferrari.
"But it will have to accommodate the bigger engine, so it will have a different back and some how will keep something of what A1 looks like today.
"I honestly believe that with Ferrari designers it will be an incredible looking car."
Teixeira also feels that the six-year deal proves that the series has a long-term future.
"We are sick and tired of critics telling us we are not going to be around next year," he added. "This shows that someone like Ferrari has actually seen the huge potential of what A1 can actually pick up."
