Mowlem to get Zytek LMP2 seat

Johnny Mowlem will return to prototype racing for the American Le Mans Series finale later this month at Laguna Seca

The 38-year-old has been called back to the Zytek team with which he raced in the last two ALMS rounds of 2006 to race its LMP2 class 07S/2.

Mowlem will share the car with German Stefan Mucke in the Californian event on October 20.

Zytek team boss Trevor Foster said: "The job Johnny did for us last year meant he was at the forefront of our minds when we decided to go back to America."

Mowlem, who finished second at Petit Le Mans with the team this time last year, is looking forward to competing in LMP2 rather than LMP1 this year, as the second class has been more competitive in 2007.

He said: "Racing the Zytek last year stands as one of the highlights of my career.

"This year I am in an LMP2 car, but that's where the big battle is right now."

The works Zytek will be raced this weekend at Petit Le Mans by Mucke, his regular teammate in Europe, Jan Charouz, and Briton Danny Watts.

Mowlem will drive the lead Risi Competizione Ferrari 430 GT alongside Mika Salo and Jaime Melo.
