Moore looking for Milwaukee revival

The Player's/Forsythe CART team have a fantastic record on the Milwaukee Mile, scene of round seven of the Fedex Championship Series this weekend

Lead driver Greg Moore took his first victory here in 1997, while his team mate Patrick Carpentier holds the all-time track record, set when he took pole position for last year's race.

Milwaukee is therefore the ideal place for the team to get their season back on track. Moore may have won the first race, but has been off the pace ever since.

However, managing to pick up points at every meeting has kept him a respectable 4th in the championship.

'With so many drivers in contention, consistency is a big factor,' Moore said. 'It's so important to pick up as many points as you can in every race.'

Neither Forsythe driver collected any points in Milwaukee last year. Carpentier collided with Michael Andretti while leading, handing first place to his team mate, who then bent a track rod when he clipped Mauricio Gugelmin.

Nevertheless, Moore is optimistic about his chances at the track this season.

'Returning to Milwaukee always brings back some pleasant memories for me because that's where I got the first win of my CART career,' Moore recalled.

'Two years before that I won here in Indy Lights, so hopefully the trend of having good things happen to me in Milwaukee every second year will continue in 1999.'
