Montoya can clinch title on Sunday

Juan Montoya can win the FedEx CART World Series Championship this weekend at Surfers Paradise in Australia

The 24-year-old Colombian has won seven races so far and is threatening to become the first rookie since Nigel Mansell to win the CART title.

The only man who can beat the Chip Ganassi Reynard Honda driver is Scotland's Dario Franchitti, who currently lies 13 points behind the championship leader.

A regular front-runner throughout the year, the Team Kool Green Reynard Honda driver has scored a record 10 podium finishes this season including two wins - both on street courses. And he started last year's Australian race from pole position.

The fight for third place in the championship is between Franchitti's team mate Paul Tracy - winner of the last race in Houston - and Newman-Haas Swift-Ford driver Michael Andretti.

The two have had a couple of incidents with each other this season, adding spice to their battle in the overall standings.

This Sunday's race on the streets of Surfers Paradise is the penultimate round of the 20 race series, with the final race taking place on Sunday October 31 at Fontana, California.
