Lapierre unsure of his A1GP future
Nicolas Lapierre could be making his last A1GP start this weekend as he will soon begin preparing for a crucial third season in GP2
The French driver has competed in all of the races this year, after sharing the duties with Alexandre Premat during their championship-winning campaign last season.
Lapierre will be one of very few drivers to remain in GP2 for a third season when he switches to DAMS for next year, and he admitted that his preparations could interfere with A1GP at the beginning of 2007.
"We don't know yet, but this may be my last race," he said. "Next year will be very busy because I'm racing in GP2."
Several other GP2 drivers with the same amount of experience as Lapierre, such as Premat and Adam Carroll, have decided to pursue other options, rather than risk an unsuccessful third year in the category.
Lapierre is well aware of the risks he faces for the new season, where he will have to perform well.
"Next year will be a very important year for me, and we have to think about that," he said.
Loic Duval would be the likely replacement for Lapierre, after putting in some impressive performances in the rookie sessions so far this season.
