Krohn Racing confirms European Le Mans Series programme for 2015

The US Krohn Racing team has firmed up plans to take part in next year's European Le Mans Series with its new Ligier coupe

Krohn, which raced in the World Endurance Championship with a Ferrari 458 Italia in 2012-13, has announced that it will race its Onroak Automotive-built Ligier-Judd/BMW JSP2 in the five ELMS races, selected United SportsCar Championship enduros, including Daytona and Sebring, and the Le Mans 24 Hours, subject to gaining an entry.

The confirmation comes after a two-day test at Austin's Circuit of the Americas with team boss Tracy Krohn and his regular partner Nic Jonsson.

That followed a shakedown at Estoril in November at which Ho-Pin Tung, a regular with Onroak sister team OAK Racing, also drove.

Krohn said that his team could potentially do some more races in the USC with the Ligier and that "we may drag out the Ferrari for GT too".

OAK UNLIKELY TO COMPETE IN USC

OAK Racing has abandoned plans to contest the Daytona 24 Hours and the Sebring 12 Hours and unlikely to field a works car in the USC next season.

Team boss Philippe Dumas told AUTOSPORT: "We prefer to give our customers [Krohn and Michael Shank Racing, which is scheduled to start racing its Ligier from Sebring] the correct support and work on putting together a strong programme for the WEC.

"We would like to do Petit Le Mans at the end of the season and then come back with a proper programme in North America in 2016."
