Italy seek data colaboration
Officials from A1 Team Italy have admitted they are trying to arrange a data sharing agreement with fellow A1 GP teams to combat the might of nations that have a greater opportunity to share information
Several countries have employed the same motor racing teams to run their franchises, and the fear is that those teams have learned more about the new 550bhp A1 car because they can share crucial technical knowledge between them.
DAMS have been employed to four teams - France, Switzerland, Mexico and Russia. Carlin Motorsport run Portugal, the Lebanon and Japan, and Super Nova runs the German and Pakistani squads.
However, there are several teams that do not have any natural association - including the Team Ghinzani-run Italian squad.
Team boss Piercarlo Ghinzani is now trying to arrange a collaboration between 'solo' teams Austria, India and China, starting with this weekend's race in Malaysia.
"We started extremely late," he told Autosprint. "We got the car and the manual to assemble it one week before the first race at Brands Hatch, when the other teams had been testing for months already. It was obvious we had to catch up.
"There are teams with more than one squad and have even three cars, and three engineers to try out different set ups.
"That is the problem and I'm trying to create a co-operation with the Austrian, Indian and maybe Chinese teams to organize a common database. We'll know more about it in Malaysia."
