Herta pleased with Acura's season

Bryan Herta believes that Acura achieved all of the goals they set themselves at the start of their first year in the American Le Mans Series

Herta raced one of the manufacturer's LMP2 cars throughout the 2007 season for Andretti Green Racing, and he is happy with the first year of the project, despite most of the class victories going to Porsche.

"Overall I'm very pleased with the first year," said the American. "We achieved all the targets Acura set out at the beginning of the season.

"We wanted to finish three cars at Sebring, wanted to win a race and win a pole position. We made a good show of ourselves."

Herta added that the knowledge gained during Acura's first season will enable them to come back stronger, as Porsche did in the second year with their LMP2 car.

"We want to win and we wanted to win more races," he said. "But we were pretty competitive in our first season and we gained a lot of knowledge to apply over the winter.

"We wanted to learn the tracks, gain data and knowledge about the cars, and better the chassis and engine."

Herta's Andretti Green Acura, which he shared with Dario Franchitti, Marino Franchitti, Tony Kanaan, and Vitor Meira at different points during the season, helped Acura to finish second in the manufacturers' standings.
