Hegewald edges Bortolotti in second practice at Barcelona

Tobias Hegewald edged out newly crowned champion Mirko Bortolotti to set the pace in mixed conditions in the second practice session in Barcelona

Times fell in the early stages as hints of a fully dry line began to emerge, with Hegewald trading fastest laps with Christopher Zanella.

After a brief red flag caused by Plamen Kralev, the session resumed and Hegewald shaved more than 1s off his previous benchmark to set a 1m38.333s, which stood for the rest of the session.

Zanella stayed second, more than half a second in arrears, before Mirko Bortolotti and then Mihai Marinescu displaced him in the final 15 minutes.

Having set the pace in a wet morning practice, Miki Monras ended the session fifth fastest ahead of Jack Clarke, Mikkel Mac and Kelvin Snoeks.

Parthiva Sureshwaren was more than two seconds down the road in ninth, while tenth went to Jose Luis Abadin, who was only able to complete five laps.
