Germany deny Britain in Feature

Nico Hulkenberg and Team Germany spoiled the British party at Brands Hatch by defeating Robbie Kerr in the A1GP feature race this afternoon

Hulkenberg got the jump at the start and survived a thrilling first half-lap of Kerr attacks before the safety car came out following a scary startline shunt involving Australia, South Africa and the Czech Republic.

Although Kerr looked a touch quicker, he was never able to permanently pass Hulkenberg. Despite an extra lap of clear air when the German car stopped first, Kerr emerged from the pits just behind Hulkenberg.

A second safety car period afforded him no further opportunity to pass, and he ultimately had to settle for second place. But Kerr never stopped trying, and even got ahead for a brief moment mid-race.

Enrico Toccacelo (Team Italy) took third at the start and held the position throughout the race, surviving the close attentions of Narain Karthikeyan (Team India).

Jeroen Bleekemolen finished fifth in the Team Netherlands car, ahead of Team USA's Jonathan Summerton.

New Zealand's eighth place means the Kiwi squad hangs on to second place in the final points standings despite the late charge from Great Britain.
