Fisichella content with first GT test
Giancarlo Fisichella was pleased with his first test in the Ferrari GT2 car he will race in this year's Le Mans Series, but feels he needs more time to get confident in the sportscar
The Ferrari Formula 1 reserve driver will share the AF Corse machine with fellow ex-F1 racer Jean Alesi and Ferrari GT regular Toni Vilander. Fisichella tried the car for the first time at Vallelunga today.
"It went well, this is an honest car, easy to drive, but I need to gain more confidence to find the limit," he said.
He added that he was really looking forward to his switch to sportscar racing, and to sharing a car for the first time.
"This is a great experience and I'm honoured that I can fight together with Jean and Toni to defend the colours of Ferrari in GT2," said Fisichella.
Alesi shared Fisichella's excitement about the project.
"I'm really happy to be back in the Ferrari family, having such a great adventure ahead, sharing the car with other drivers, something I've never done," he said.
Double FIA GT2 champion Vilander said it will be an honour to help Alesi and Fisichella get up to speed in endurance racing.
"It will be nice to pass on my experience to two drivers of their level," he said. "Although we just started working I'm sure that this will be an emotional season."
