Enge to have surgery on Friday
Tomas Enge will travel from St. Petersburg to Indianapolis this week to undergo surgery on his broken left elbow on Friday
The Czech driver sustained several injuries when he crashed heavily during the American Le Mans Series race at St. Petersburg on Sunday, and he admitted to still being in a lot of pain ahead of travelling to Indianapolis.
"I am still in quite big pain but everything is going fine," said Enge. "We will have the surgery in Indianapolis because I want to be in the hands of the best people."
Enge will be working with Dr. Terry Trammell and the Indianapolis Medical centre, and he is confident that he will be able to start working towards a return to racing.
"We are working with Indianapolis Medical Centre and Dr. Trammell, they know racing drivers," he added.
"Hopefully the surgery will be good and we'll be back on the track as soon as possible."
Enge is unable to fly to Indianapolis due to a partially collapsed lung, so he will travel in the motorhome of his ALMS team owner Michael Petersen.
