Enge disappointed by rule change
Tomas Enge has expressed his disappointment at the decision by A1GP officials to change the qualifying system for the feature race from this weekend
In Beijing the feature race grid will be based only on the finishing positions from the sprint, which was the format used last year.
The system for the first two rounds of the year gave teams points based on their start position, finishing position and fastest race lap in the sprint race, with the best performer overall getting pole position for the feature race.
The new method was considered too complicated by officials and teams, but Enge disagrees.
"I prefer the system that was used in the first two races," he said. "It may have been complicated at first sight but it was not too difficult to understand and in my view it was fairer.
"Even if a driver had some problems in the sprint race you could still qualify in the middle of the grid for the feature race."
But the Czech driver added that he didn't expect the rule change to affect anyone's strategy for the shorter sprint race.
Both Enge and Jarek Janis spent some time in a Formula 3000 car in the long gap between their home round at Brno and this weekend's race in China.
Team seat holder Antonin Charouz said: "We tested with the Formula 3000 cars because both of our drivers have spent the summer driving sportscars.
"Single seaters have some specifics that you have to get used to again, and we want to build on our podium finish at Brno with top five finishes."
