DVD Review: The Top 20 Greatest Ever TT riders
From early pioneers to modern icons, the Top 20 Greatest Ever TT Riders chronicles the careers of the racing legends who mastered perhaps the toughest challenge in motorsport

Using the tried and tested 'talking heads' format, the list was compiled by fan feedback and contains no real surprises, although I'm sure that some aficionados will take umbrage at the inclusion of the winless but popular Guy Martin over any number of more successful contemporaries.

While the list might be a tad predictable (with a huge spoiler during number two), it's great that the exploits of sidecar legend Dave Molyneux is celebrated, but strange that those of his passengers are omitted. Surely you can't have one without the other?
There's a depth and breadth to the pundits and the insight they offer that you would expect, aside from the tokenistic inclusion of Jodie Kidd, who offers such revelations as "I would say he was probably one of the most successful riders".
It's also strange that there is no mention of the price that many ultimately paid in pursuit of this glory, especially as the film is dedicated to Dan Kneen, who appears as one of the talking heads and who after filming joined the tragic list of the many who have perished trying to conquer the Mountain.
In addition to the main film, there are three fantastic extras. These are the full races from the 1992 Senior, the 2000 F1 race, and the 2005 Senior. If you don't know why these races are significant, then you need to get this film to find out. If you do know, then you'll understand why this is an essential purchase for all fans of the greatest motorcycle road race.
The Top 20 Greatest Ever TT Riders is available now from Duke for £14.99 (including delivery).
