Duke praises industry
HRH Prince Andrew the Duke of York appeared on the main stage at AUTOSPORT International to open the show today (Thursday). In his opening address, the Prince praised the importance of the British motorsport industry to Britain
Autosport International
Autosport International is a four-day event motorsport event that includes a two-day trade show for industry professionals and a two-day public show.
"I am delighted to be able to come here today," said the Prince. "Inside these halls, AUTOSPORT International provides a unique platform to showcase high performance engineering expertise and resources.
"AUTOSPORT is a world-class resource for the United Kingdom. A great deal of international business is done in the first two days. Many racing teams around the world depend on British know-how and their engines, chassis and components, which are designed, built and produced in the United Kingdom.
"There are well over 25,000 highly trained engineers in the United Kingdom, who provide their skills to over 3,000 businesses. That doesn't include the number of other people who work in the industry as a whole.
"This show is a very important one that provides a shop window for many small and medium sized British engineering companies, and it is wonderful that the British government and UK Trade and Investment recognises this and chooses this show as a platform to support this in its drive for international trade."
