'CVC' helps GM's Le Mans Corvettes
US company Clarity Technologies in Troy, MI, has released details of an application for its 'Clear Voice Capture' noise-reduction technology with the GM Racing team's Corvette GT racecars in the 2003 Le Mans 24 Hours. Clarity optimised its 'CVC' system for the racing environment, to complement the team's Motorola 'Astro 25' digital radios in all pit-car transmissions
Clarity, established in 1998, develops and markets a suite of proprietary software products and algorithms that improves the quality and accuracy of voice-based interfaces, speech recognition software programs and wireless voice communications.
"The combination of Clarity's software and Motorola's digital radios provided the team with the most consistent radio solution we've ever experienced," said Doug Fehan, the Corvette Racing team programme manager. "I prioritize the value of good communications in our operation, and this was the best ever."
Gary Grube, the CTO of Motorola's two-way radio business, added: "The Clarity noise reduction software, further optimized for the noisy racing environment, performed well and removed the acoustic background noise from the driver's microphone, enabling the crew to immediately understand what the driver said."
