Bourdais tops opening practice
Sebastien Bourdais bounced back from his disappointment with second place in Mont-Tremblant to dominate the opening practice session for Champ Car's Grand Prix of Toronto
The Newman/Haas/Lanigan driver posted a time of 60.055sec on his final lap of the 1.755-mile circuit to set an average speed of 105.204mph.
More significantly, he put himself a full 0.336 seconds quicker than his nearest competitor, Justin Wilson of RSPORTS whose team-mate Alex Tagliani was fourth, 0.029sec away.
In between them was Oriol Servia of Forsythe Championship Racing whose teammate Paul Tracy was down in ninth, 0.720 seconds off Bourdais.
Last week's Mont-Tremblant race winner Robert Doornbos spent much of the session languishing just behind his Minardi Team USA team-mate Dan Clarke, but on his final lap he climbed up to sixth, albeit 0.665sec off top time.
However, the most impressive performance of the morning came from Bruno Junqueira. The Brazilian Dale Coyne Racing driver was consistently in the top 10 all session, and his 24th and final lap put him seventh fastest, just 0.7 seconds slower than his former teammate Bourdais.
