Bain takes on new role at BMP
British Motorsport Promoters, the body that runs the UK's race circuits, has a new chairman - Octagon Motorsports boss Rob Bain
He takes over the job from Donington Park boss Robert Fearnall, who has held the role since BMP was created in 1999. Bain will dovetail the chairmanship with his responsibilities at Octagon, the company that owns the lease to Silverstone.
Fearnall and Knockhill representative Derek Butcher have both stepped down from the BMP board of directors, with Rockingham chief executive David Grace and Mondello Park's Howard Dawson taking their places. The board is now made up of Grace, Dawson, Bain, British Touring Car Championship director Richard West and British Super Bikes director Jos Foulston.
Bain said: "BMP has taken British motorsport into a bright new era, and the restructure will give further impetus to the BTCC and British Super Bikes. Both series are enjoying increasing success, and Robert and Derek have played a pivotal role in building the organisation behind them. I'd like to thank them both for all their hard work.
Fearnall said: "BMP has achieved a lot already, and it is important that we put in place strong foundations for the next three years. I'm confident that BMP will take British motorsport from strength to strength."
BMP has 13 member tracks, that each have a vote on any matters up for proposal.
