Aston encouraged by Lola LMP1 test

Aston Martin Racing were encouraged by the performance of the Aston Martin-powered Lola LMP1 car as it set the quickest times in the absence of Audi on the final day of testing at Paul Ricard this week

The three Charouz Racing drivers who will contest the Le Mans 24 Hours in the car, Stefan Mucke, Tomas Enge, and Jan Charouz, completed the two-day test in the B08/60 yesterday with few problems, and set a best time within two and a half seconds of the leading Audi R10's best time from Sunday night.

AMR technical director George Howard-Chappell said: "Everything has gone really well. We finished as the fastest runner on the second afternoon and compared well to Audi and we're very pleased with the progress."

Mucke added: "The car was considerably better on all sides than it was at the recent Snetterton test and we took another step forward here.

"The times are not so important, the main thing is thorough preparation for the races. The car is brand new so our priority is to sort out any flaws."

The two Team ORECA Courages were second and third quickest yesterday, while the new Epsilon Euskadi prototype completed another 70 laps of running.
