Altran launches Renault F1 student competition

The Altran Engineering Academy has been established in the UK by the French based global innovation consultancy to operate a new, annual competition, open to over 10,000 young engineers and scientists from British universities. In the first such competition, in association with The Daily Telegraph, Altran will offer a single 2004 winner a six-month posting at the Renault F1 Team HQ in Enstone, including a full salary with the use of an apartment and a company car

Altran, which recently extended its two-year-old contract with Renault F1 through February 2007, offers a broad range of engineering and consulting specialities, from physical sciences to electronics and information technology, through industrial systems engineering to strategic and management consultancy. The Daily Telegraph newspaper is the sponsor of ITV's coverage of F1 racing in the UK.

Claude Emanuelle Boisson, Altran's chief technology officer, commented: "Together with The Daily Telegraph and the Renault F1 Team, we believe that talent, enthusiasm and ability should always be rewarded. We are also aware that it is very difficult for young talent to get the start it deserves in today's highly competitive world. So we have set up the Altran Engineering Academy to provide fast-track opportunities for talented young scientists and engineers in Britain.

"This is an annual award scheme which is set to offer invaluable, paid work experience in some of the most exciting and competitive industries in the world - opportunities that are impossible for young scientists and engineers to obtain through normal channels."

Entries for the inaugural 2004 competition will close on June 30.
