IndyCar - Sonoma: We're five minutes from the command to start engines, and have just witnessed a pre-race ceremony that, as you'd expect, was dominated by memorials to Justin Wilson. It's a heartbroken paddock that has assembled in northern California this weekend.

Valentino Rossi mastered the conditions at a rain-hit MotoGP British Grand Prix at Silverstone to re-establish his championship lead.
He had come into the weekend tied on points with Yamaha team-mate Jorge Lorenzo, but the Spaniard had to make do with fourth after leading early on, with Danilo Petrucci and Andrea Dovizioso instead making the podium. Marc Marquez crashed in his pursuit of Rossi.

And in the DTM at Moscow Raceway, Audi’s Mike Rockenfeller won the Sunday race from pole position to score his first win since the series’ first visit to Russia two years ago.
After Mercedes F1 junior Pascal Wehrlein had reclaimed the championship lead by winning on Saturday, Mattias Ekstrom bounced back from his clash with Timo Glock to finish third and steal the initiative back.

WEC - Nurburgring: And Webber crosses the line to take victory in the #17 Porsche.
WEC - Nurburgring: Lotterer takes third place from the sister Audi of di Grassi - seems that as the Brazilian couldn't do anything about attacking Lieb, they have swapped back round again.
WEC - Nurburgring: Lieb looks to have second place sewn up - he's now 7.5s clear of di Grassi.
WEC - Nurburgring: Just 13 minutes remaining. Webber is reeling off the laps on the way to his first WEC win.
WEC - Nurburgring: The battle for second is still alive, although di Grassi has proved unable to close the gap. He is 4.7s behind Lieb.

WEC - Nurburgring: Lieb's advantage in second place over di Grassi is currently just under four seconds.
WEC - Nurburgring: Pilet comes in to serve his penalty, but retains second place in class as Rigon, in the #71 Ferrari, was too far behind to jump ahead.
WEC - Nurburgring: The second-placed GTE Pro Porsche of Pilet has been hit with a penalty for an incident several hours ago, when Makowiecki hit Calado's Ferrari at the start of a full-course yellow.
WEC - Nurburgring: With 30 minutes remaining, the focus is on the battle for second. Lieb holds the position in the #18 Porsche, but he has just made contact with Panciatici in the #36 ORECA and picked up some minor front-right bodywork damage.

WEC - Nurburgring: Jani attempts to re-take third from di Grassi at Turn 1, but can't make it stick.
WEC - Nurburgring: And di Grassi passes Jani for third into the hairpin.
WEC - Nurburgring: Jani dives to the inside of Treluyer into Turn 1, but runs deep and Treluyer is able to come back at him. They run side-by-side into Turn 2, briefly making contact, with Treluyer just holding on. Great stuff - but it has also allowed di Grassi to join the battle.
WEC - Nurburgring: The battle between Treluyer and Jani on the last lap helped di Grassi to close up.
WEC - Nurburgring: Treluyer gets held up by a GTE Am Porsche through the final corner and Jani gets a run on him. But Treluyer defends into Turn 1 and holds the position.
WEC Nurburgring: Jani in the #18 Porsche is now within 1.5 seconds of second-placed Treluyer.
Super GT - Suzuka 1000km: The Nurburgring isn't the iconic circuit to host an endurance race of note today.
The Japanese Super GT series had its 1000km race at Suzuka (although poor weather meant the race hit its time limit before reaching that distance) and Britain's James Rossiter claimed victory for the TOM'S Lexus team for the second straight year.
On this occasion, he was sharing with Daisuke Ito, who picked up his third win in the race, 11 years after his last.
Last year, Rossiter shared the victory with Toyota WEC driver and ex-F1 man Kazuki Nakajima (pictured).

WEC - Nurburgring: Jani is struggling to make up those handful of seconds to Treluyer, but he is doubling his tyres - of sorts. He pitted during the most recent full-course yellow and effectively did the splash-and-dash that the #18 Porsche would otherwise had to have done at the end of the race.
