Indy Lights - Baltimore: Here's how Brit-abroad Jack Hawksworth claimed Indy Lights pole.

Hawksworth storms to commanding pole
Auto GP - Donington: Meindert van Buuren has gone off at qualifying trouble-spot Coppice, bringing out the red flags.

Robert Visoiu had moved to the top of the timing screens a minute earlier, only to be demoted in quick succession by Giovesi, Ghirelli and Karthikeyan.

Karthikeyan has now been stripped of his fastest time because the red flags had been shown before he had completed his lap, leaving Giovesi fastest.
Auto GP - Donington: Karthikeyan has recovered from seventh to second, 0.087s behind provisional polesitter Kevin Giovesi.
Auto GP - Donington: Karthikeyan is flying and moves back to P1 on 1m17.132s. The chequered flag is out.
Auto GP - Donington - qualifying: 1 Karthikeyan; 2 Ghirelli; 3 Giovesi; 4 Visoiu; 5 Campana; 6 Sato.
IndyCar - Baltimore: Just over halfway in and Graham Rahal is currently leading the group. A lot of the quicker guys are yet to do a run on new reds, but Sebastian Saavedra is taking a different approach - he's just fitted his second set of stickered reds.

MotoGP - Silverstone: Press conference about to start at Silverstone, where AUTOSPORT has a perfect view of Cal Crutchlow showing off his battle scars. He wears them with pride, this guy.
Superstars - Donington: Qualifying is go here in Donington. Can anybody stop the Romeo Ferraris Mercedes of Tonio Liuzzi and Thomas Biagi? We'll know in 30 minutes.
IndyCar - Baltimore: First upset of the afternoon, as Dario Franchitti finishes eighth in the group and is elminated. Saavedra's 'two sets of new tyres' strategy didn't pay off, either.

Progressing to round two: Dixon, Power, Sato, Hunter-Reay, Rahal, Hinchcliffe.

Eliminated: Jakes, Franchitti, Servia, de Silvestro, Saavedra, Stefan Wilson.
Superstars - Donington: Would seem the session has been shortened, thanks to two red flags in Auto GP qualifying. 21 mins left on the clock, no laps recorded.
IndyCar - Baltimore: Heading out in Group 2:

Tristan Vautier, Josef Newgarden, Simon Pagenaud, Tony Kanaan, Sebastien Bourdais, Luca Filippi, Helio Castroneves, EJ Viso, Justin Wilson, Charlie Kimball, Marco Andretti, Ed Carpenter.
IndyCar - Baltimore: Franchitti is a little mystified by his lack of pace.

"The car actually felt quite decent. It was just nowhere near quick enough. I'm not quite sure where we're going to pick it up."

As things stand, he'll start from 15th.
Indycar - Baltimore: Bourdais' chances of progressing have just taken a hit - he belted the tyres at the exit of the chicane and appears to have broken his front-left suspension.
Superstars - Donington: With 10 minutes to go, it's Luigi Ferrara who's fastest, from Gianni Morbidelli.
MotoGP - Silverstone: Tomorrow could be crucial for the MotoGP title race. Can Dani Pedrosa afford to lose any more ground to Honda team-mate and poleman Marc Marquez? Jorge Lorenzo almost certainly can't.

Championship standings after 11 of 18 rounds:

1 Marc Marquez 213
2 Daniel Pedrosa 187
3 Jorge Lorenzo 169
4 Valentino Rossi 143
5 Cal Crutchlow 127
6 Stefan Bradl 103

(25 points for a win)

IndyCar - Baltimore: EJ Viso hits the wall at the exit of the chicane with less than a minute on the clock, but the session finishes under green flag conditions.

Progressing: Pagenaud, Vautier, Castroneves, J. Wilson, Newgarden, Kimball

Eliminated: Filippi, Kanaan, Andretti, Carpenter, Viso, Bourdais.

Moto2 - Silverstone: Meanwhile, in Moto2, will tomorrow see a maiden win for polesitter Takaaki Nakagami? The Japanese rider will start from pole for the third time this season.

He's finished second twice in the last two races, at Indy and in the Czech Republic, where he started first. He also started at the head of the field at Le Mans, but crashed while leading.
IndyCar - Baltimore: The 12 cars still in contention for pole are on track for the second phase of qualifying.
Superstars - Donington: Luigi Ferrara snares pole from Tonio Liuzzi after the flag. Amazing result after Ferrara's troubled practice sessions.

1 Ferrara; 2 Liuzzi; 3 Berton; 4 Morbidelli; 5 Biagi; 6 Turkington; 7 Mugelli; 8 Schiattarella; 9 Bacci; 10 Trentin.
MotoGP - Silverstone: Speaking of Crutchlow, his Tech 3 team reckon tomorrow is the Brit's best chance of a win this year. We reckon if he's got one Grand Prix win in him this season, he'd probably be OK with it being in Britain - and possibly a little surprised, too.

That's because Crutchlow told AUTOSPORT's Sam Tremayne yesterday that he reckons it used to be 3-3 between Yamaha and Honda in terms of where each was strongest; but now says it is 5-1 and that Lorenzo is flattering Yamaha.

In which case, Crutchlow's third in qualifying was even more impressive.
IndyCar - Baltimore: Graham Rahal hits the tyres at Turn 8, and Tristan Vautier runs straight into the back of him. That ends the session early. Making things worse for both drivers is that they were in the top six.

Currently showing in the top six are Power, Newgarden, Vautier, Pagenaud, Wilson and Dixon, who progresses after Rahal is penalised for causing the red.

Vautier will be lucky to take any part in this final phase though, considering the damage to his car.

Eliminated: Castroneves, Hunter-Reay, Kimball, Sato, Hinchcliffe, Rahal.
Auto GP - Donington: Narain Karthikeyan's impressive form continued as he claimed pole position at Donington Park.

He popped up at just the right time during an eventful session to claim pole, despite earlier having a previous-best time disallowed.

Auto GP qualifying: Karthikeyan on pole

ERC - Zlin: We're just about ready for action to resume in the Czech Republic. SS8 awaits; the second running of the 8.81km Biskupice.

In a nutshell, this is what's happened so far: Points leader Jan Kopecky has dominated, with Vaclav Pech doing a solid job in second, as has Roman Kresta in third. But we've been denied any meaningful battles for position following a penalty for Jaromir Tarabus and dramas for Esapekka Lappi.
IndyCar - Baltimore: Not only did Vautier's car get fixed in time for him to take part in the Fast Six, but he's the first car out at the green flag.
IndyCar - Baltimore: Slowish lap on black tyres by Vautier. That wasn't an attempt at a time; merely an exploratory lap to make sure everything is pointing in the right direction.
ERC - Zlin: The big news as the stage starts is that Lappi will not carry on after service, due to roll cage damage. Rain is also expected on the final two stages. That includes the 18km Pindula stage, due to be run tonight.
IndyCar - Baltimore: That was an attempt at a time: Vautier shoots up to provisional pole. We're still yet to see a flying lap from Dixon or Power.
IndyCar - Baltimore: Wow. Power held provisional pole by 0.3s in the final seconds, only for Dixon to beat his time on his final lap. Power had one more shot at improving, but made a mistake in the chicane.

Dixon therefore takes pole, which could be significant from a championship perspective given that both Castroneves and Hunter-Reay will start three rows behind him.
ERC - Zlin: 4m54.6s for Kopecky as we get our SS8 benchmark. That's a fraction off his time from the first run on the stage this morning, and 6.3s quicker than Pech manages.
ERC - Zlin: Wiegand puts in his most impressive stage performance of the rally so far, as he goes second quickest, 3.1s slower than Kopecky. Kresta and Tarabus are also through faster than Pech, who is now 35.7s behind the rally leader.

Auto GP - Donington: Vittorio Ghirelli was pleased to recover from an off in free practice to claim a place on the front row for tomorrow's opening Auto GP race at Donington.

"I didn't really use the soft tyres in practice," explained the Super Nova driver. "So, without having had much feel on them, I was quite happy to qualify second. My tyres were starting to go off on that last run, and I had lots of wheelspin so I think I lost around a tenth."

Ghirelli ended the session 0.097s behind team-mate Narain Karthikeyan.
ERC - Zlin: Pavel Valousek, driving the Fiesta R5, is a content man after coming through sixth fastest. He's ninth overall after losing a chunk of time earlier on in the rally.

"Now is much more better as we did this stage without any problems," he reckons. "It is only about learning with this car."
ERC - Zlin - SS8 results:

Stage: 1 Kopecky; 2 Wiegand +3.1s; 3 Kresta +4.2s; 4 Tarabus +4.5s; 5 Pech +6.3s.

Overall: 1 Kopecky; 2 Pech +35.7s; 3 Kresta +57.8s; 4 Wiegand +1m33.5s; 5 Tarabus +1m46.8s.
ERC - Zlin: No rest for the wicked. Nor ERC competitors. Straight onto SS9, and this should be a tricky one. As mentioned not too long ago, rain and darkness could feature heavily on this 18.43km stage.
WEC - Interlagos: Qualifying has started — with the GTE Pro and Am cars out first. For those who have forgotten about the qualifying system for the six-hour WEC races — and it is easily forgettable — the grid is determined by the aggregate of four timed laps, split between two drivers, for each car.
Auto GP - Donington: Narain Karthikeyan gave a succint reaction to securing his fourth consecutive Auto GP pole position at Donington.

"It was a scrappy qualifying session," said Karthikeyan. "The circuit was slippery, but also I didn't get the best out of my tyres. Anyway, now the goal has to be to make it five poles in a row at [the final round] Brno!"
MotoGP - Silverstone: News from Silverstone, where the title rivals have spoken. Jorge Lorenzo will attack from the start in tomorrow's race, with the defending champion desperate to end poleman Marc Marquez's run of victories.

Marquez, though, believes Lorenzo is the favourite for victory tomorrow. Gamesmanship? Perhaps...
