But America is still in the thick of the motorsport action next weekend, when MotoGP makes its second US trip of the year to race at Laguna Seca.
Both NASCAR and IndyCar now take brief summer breaks - the Sprint Cup resumes in a fortnight at Indianapolis, while IndyCar has a three-week pause before Mid-Ohio.

NASCAR - Loudon: Jimmie Johnson's charge from last to sixth keeps him atop the Sprint Cup standings, while part-timer Brian Vickers' win doesn't affect the head of the order.
The interest is around the Chase cut-off. Long-time leaders Tony Stewart and Kurt Busch drop them out of the magic top 10 (though Stewart still has a wildcard slot having won this year), while reigning champion Brad Keselowski is back in, as is Kasey Kahne.

IndyCar - Toronto: And there it is. Dixon completes a hat-trick of wins, and vaults up to second in the standings. Helio Castroneves is second ahead of Sebastien Bourdais, who will be delighted to finish the weekend with a double-podium.

NASCAR - Loudon: Vickers' last win came at Michigan when he was racing for the defunct Red Bull Racing team in 2009. That was 75 races ago for Vickers.
IndyCar - Toronto: ... and Franchitti makes a move stick. He's now in P10. If we have a caution - and no Toronto race has ever been caution-free - Franchitti could be a factor yet.

IndyCar - Toronto: On his first lap back out, Kanaan overcooks it at the last corner and hits the wall just hard enough to break his right rear suspension. Fortunately, he can steer the car off the track himself and the race will continue under greens.
NASCAR - Loudon: 20 to go there's a great fight for the lead between Tony Stewart, Kyle Busch and Brian Vickers. Stewart OK for fuel apparently.
IndyCar - Toronto: Franchitti pits, which was expected, and so does Kanaan, which was not. You'd have thought he'd have been able to go further than 16 laps on a set of blacks.
IndyCar - Toronto: All stops are completed, and Dixon is back in the lead with a 7.7s buffer over Castroneves. Franchitti, out of sequence due to his earlier mishap, is third ahead of Power. The latter lost a lot of time during that pit sequence - his gap to Castroneves is now 15s.
IndyCar - Toronto: Power pits. It's interesting that he was able to stay out so long, but given that he was lapping 3.0s slower than he had been earlier, you have to wonder what the benefit was. He puts on scuffed blacks instead of stickers, and rejoins to find himself immediately under pressure from Hunter-Reay and Bourdais.

IndyCar - Toronto: Apparently Sebastian Saavedra's radio wasn't working, so the Dragon team had to ask race control to black flag him so that they could perform his stop. Amusing.
Helio has just pitted, and as expected, rejoined behind Dixon. Power leads.
NASCAR - Loudon: Scratch that. Stewart stays out again. He and the team have rolled a lot of dice today.
IndyCar - Toronto: Dixon pits from the lead. The Penskes stay out, and Castroneves now leads. Dixon had a gap of around 4.5s before the stop, so there's a lot of time to make up.
IndyCar - Toronto: The leaders are still out, but they're lapping about 1.7s slower than they were earlier. Dixon's already had to catch one big slide.

NASCAR - Loudon: There should be no worries about fuel now as Paul Menard and Jeff Gordon tangle sending the four-time champ spinning.

IndyCar - Toronto: Almost the entire field started on the red tyres, and the fact that Tony Kanaan has just come in to change his suggests that they're reaching the end of their useful life. Expect pretty much everyone to pit in the next few laps.
Justin Wilson, Charlie Kimball and Carlos Munoz all started on the blacks, while Franchitti ditched his reds when he stopped for that repair on the first lap.

IndyCar - Toronto: Dixon is 3.0s head of Castroneves, and Power is a further 5.0s behind his team-mate. At least Ryan Hunter-Reay is trying to make something of the battle for third - the Andretti driver is camped about 0.6s behind the Penske.
Hinchcliffe finally made it out and is three laps down. Typically, the Andretti team removed the entire throttle assembly only to discover that it had magically cured itself as soon as it was taken out of the car and now appears to be working perfectly.

NASCAR - Loudon: With cars all on different strategies it's no surprise these restarts are so wild. Kahne makes a great save as we stay green and Stewart leads. Nope, spoke too soon; Kvapil and Stenhouse crash. Another caution. Calm down dears!
