Today is a special occasion for a couple of riders.
Dani Pedrosa will start his 260th grand prix today across the three classes, surpassing Spanish legend Angel Nieto's start tally. Andrea Iannone will also make his 200th grand prix start today.

Bradley Smith is actually on the grid, but interviewing fellow Brit Scott Redding, for what looks like the Red Bull-owned ServusTV, which broadcasts MotoGP in Austria.

Jorge Lorenzo went well at Jerez in similarly hot conditions, but he is expecting a tough afternoon today from second on the grid - his first front row with Ducati

Moto2 was a far more sedate deal. Alex Marquez romped to a second career victory in a commanding performance. The polesitter broke away from the field early to lead by three seconds, and maintained that margin for the balance of the race. Mattia Pasini backed up his Mugello victory with second, while Thomas Luthi finished third to close to within seven points of championship leader Franco Morbidelli, who finished a quiet sixth.

Moto3 championship leader Joan Mir launched a stunning raid from third place on the final lap to take his fourth win of the season. Announced as a 2018 Moto2 rider with Marc VDS mid-race, Mir passed Romano Fenati at Turn 10 to move into second, before pouncing on leader Jorge Martin entering the Turn 14 chicane. Fenati then demoted Martin to the final podium position.
As usual, we've already had two races today. Very different races, at that.

The temperature is scorching today. Track temperature is 53 degrees Celsius, which will be massively punishing on tyres at such a low-grip circuit.
