V8 Supercars - Sandown: Costly mistake for Steve Owen in the FPR Ford at Turn 4. He locked up and took a brief spin, dropping down from seventh to 15th in the process. He is co-driver to Mark Winterbottom, who is battling against Whincup for the championship.
WRC - Australia: Kubica has had one of his strongest rallies of the year, but did lose a minute with a trip through the scenery yesterday.
That one left him pretty frustrated, as it came when he lost concentration went a yellow light - part of a safety system test by the organisers - started flashing in the cockpit.
"It has been a good weekend - very good driving on difficult stages," he reckons.
"Yesterday there was a kind of mistake, but it was not due to driving."
It's going to be ninth for Kubica.

V8 Supercars - Sandown: Owen pits on lap 80 and swaps places with Winterbottom.
WRC - Australia: Until that excursion, Kubica had been beating M-Sport team-mate Elfyn Evans, but the mistake swapped the Fords' order round.
Evans completes the Powerstage now, three tenths slower than Kubica to go second in the rankings for the time being, clinching eighth overall.

V8 Supercars - Sandown: Lots of driver changes going on at the moment, with the primary drivers taking control of their cars. Reynolds has just received a drive-through penalty as the wheels were spinning during their stop. Co-driver Canto was running in the top five up until that point.
Stopwatch
WRC - Australia: Thierry Neuville takes over from Kubica as the Powerstage leader with a time 5s quicker.
So no repeat of Neuville's Germany win, but he did knock himself back when he hit a postbox earlier in the weekend.
With so little attrition this weekend (which hasn't always been the case historically in Australia), seventh has ended up being Neuville's limit.

WRC - Australia: Neuville isn't the only rising star in Hyundai's line-up this year.
Hayden Paddon has had an increasingly impressive season in his first proper year in the top class, and sixth place on the nearest thing the Kiwi has to a home rally (please note Antipodean readers, we're definitely not saying Australians and New Zealanders are the same, just that Rally New Zealand isn't around anymore and there are a lot of Kiwi fans here) is a great result.
He's second to Neuville on the Powerstage at present, but in the top six overall.

V8 Supercars - Sandown: Dumbrell pits from the lead after 85 laps and Whincup gets into the car. He resumes running at the front of the field. He's 8.5s clear of James Courtney.
Stopwatch
WRC - Australia: Mikko Hirvonen now deposes Neuville from the Powerstage top spot.
This has been an encouraging weekend for Hirvonen - probably his first of the year - and he clinches fifth place overall having been in the podium fight on Friday.
Amid plenty of rumours over whether he'll still be in the field in 2015, that's well-timed.

WRC - Australia: "We didn't get all the way up the podium like we wanted, but a good fight," says the three-time Australia winner, who gave the Powerstage a good go as well.
Stopwatch
WRC - Australia: Andreas Mikkelsen equals Hirvonen for Powerstage honours for now, and clinches third overall, which continues to set up VW's first WRC one-two-three.
Though Kris Meeke is further back in the results, the running order was set before last night's superspecials and Meeke's penalty, so the Citroen is still to come through.

WRC - Australia: The Powerstage allows us to go beyond the usual one decimal place timing, and it's Hirvonen who is actually a few fractions faster than Mikkelsen.
But that becomes irrelevant now as Meeke outpaces them both.

V8 Supercars - Sandown: There's currently an 8.6s gap between leaders Whincup and Courtney. And out-of-sequence Chaz Mostert is third, while Craig Lowndes is fourth.
Garth Tander has just taken fifth from Fabian Coulthard on lap 95 of 161.

WRC - Australia: It's been an eventful, but impressive, few months for Meeke, and although it's only fourth place this weekend, he's happy.
"To be honest, I think this is my strongest performance to date. Finland was great, Germany was great, but here is where I've really felt closest to the top guys."

Stopwatch
WRC - Australia: Latvala blows away Meeke's Powerstage time, but he needs a mini-miracle to overhaul Ogier's 8.0s overall lead.
Quote
WRC - Australia: Latvala's more satisfied than he was last night, that's for sure.
"It's been a great fight, a really, really great fight. I've enjoyed it, I've really enjoyed it. I know I did a wrong tyre choice and that's where I lost it, but overall it's been a really positive weekend.
"It's this kind of fight that I need to do if I want to fight for the world championship one day."
One day... Jari! Amazing to think that after being so quick for so many years, he still hasn't really, really put together a title campaign.

Trophy
WRC - Australia: Ogier is only second to Latvala on the Powerstage, but he wins Rally Australia by 6.8s overall.
That's Ogier's sixth win of 2014, brings his championship lead over Latvala up to 50 points with three rallies to go, gives VW its first one-two-three, and wins the manufacturers' championship for his team again too.

V8 Supercars - Sandown: Mostert pits from third on lap 98, meaning he'll have to do another stop later on in the race. What that also means is that Holden drivers currently occupy the top seven places!
Quote
WRC - Australia: Latvala comes straight over to congratulate a jubilant Ogier, with Mikkelsen and Meeke following too.
"Fantastic, it's just amazing to be one-two-three," says Ogier. "We are here for Volkswagen first and it was very frustrating for us to do such a bad result at their home."

V8 Supercars - Sandown: Ninth-placed Scott Pye is now the top Ford. Winterbottom is now in the top 10, recovering after Owen's spin earlier on.
WRC - Australia: Ostberg makes it through the Powerstage too after some road section repairs on his Citroen.
"This time the Viking fix worked, but it took far too much time," he says.

V8 Supercars - Sandown: Courtney is starting to trim away at Whincup's advantage. The gap is now just under eight seconds. Lowndes is 24.3s away from the leading duo.
V8 Supercars - Sandown: Good news for Will Davison, whose dashboard has decided it once to work again after it died while brother Alex was at the wheel of the #9 Erebus Mercedes. The bad news? He's down in 23rd and a couple of laps down.

Rick and Todd Kelly, 2006
V8 Supercars - Sandown: Will and Alex Davison are sharing a car for the first time in their careers this weekend.
No brothers have ever claimed victory at Sandown, though Rick and Todd Kelly did come close in 2006 (pictured) when they finished second to Jason Bright and Mark Winterbottom by just 0.1586s - the closest finishing margin in the race's history.
V8 Supercars - Sandown: Courtney is into the pits for his fourth stop. Whincup continues to lead at the front of the field and is told: "You need to press on a little bit. Safety, but press on."

Rally Australia final report
V8 Supercars - Sandown: Pye has jumped Slade and McLaughlin in the final round of stops. He's up to ninth.
V8 Supercars - Sandown: Whincup comes in from the lead on lap 124. He rejoins in the lead with a 11.8s advantage over Courtney.
V8 Supercars - Sandown: Trouble for Nick Percat, who was limping along the front straight after hitting the pit entry wall earlier. He's brought the car back into the garage and looks to be heading for retirement. Not the best 26th birthday present ever.
V8 Supercars - Sandown: The order on lap 132 of 161:
1 Whincup; 2 Courtney +11.2s; 3 Moster +24.1s; 4 Tander 30.4s; 5 Lowndes +36.7s; 6 Van Gisbergen +37.1s.
Mostert will need to make a late pitstop and will drop down the order when he does.

Yellow flag
V8 Supercars - Sandown: Second safety car period on lap 133. It's for a massive crash for Lee Holdsworth at the top of the hill. He is out of the car and looks to be OK, albeit probably battered and bruised.
V8 Supercars - Sandown: Mostert takes the opportunity to get his final stop out of the way and rejoins in 13th. Whincup's 11s lead over Courtney has of course disappeared as well.
V8 Supercars - Sandown: The order before the race restarts is:
1 Whincup; 2 Courtney; 3 Tander; 4 Lowndes; 5 Van Gisbergen; 6 Coulthard; 7 Pye; 8 McLaughlin; 9 Reynolds; 10 Slade.
1 Whincup; 2 Courtney; 3 Tander; 4 Lowndes; 5 Van Gisbergen; 6 Coulthard; 7 Pye; 8 McLaughlin; 9 Reynolds; 10 Slade.
V8 Supercars - Sandown: Marshals and officials are checking the tyre bundles to ensure it is safe for the race to restart. Looks like it won't be long before the safety car returns to the pits.
Green flag
V8 Supercars - Sandown: And we're back to racing on lap 140 of 161. Whincup has three cars between him and Courtney - will he make the most of it?
V8 Supercars - Sandown: Courtney is trying to find his way past the tail-end Charlies, but to no avail. He's being held up by Jack Perkins, Russell Ingall and Robert Dahlgren.
V8 Supercars - Sandown: Courtney has finally cleared Dahlgren and is told: "We've got plenty of laps, nice and clean mate."

Devil's Ark
WRC - Australia: There was plenty of political posturing going on in the Rally Australia service park this week, but the debate over the future of the sport and the World Rally Championship was cast into a shade by Devil Ark.
Devil Ark's stance on running order or powerstage was hard to fathom – it's mainly focused on "Giving hope to the critically endangered Tasmanian Devil."
V8 Supercars - Sandown: Ingall is now the only lapped car between Whincup and Courtney. The Triple Eight driver is 3.05s in the lead with 15 laps to go.
V8 Supercars - Sandown: And Courtney is finally past Ingall, whose Dumbrell Holden sounds like a bag of rusty old nails. Whincup is now 3.265s ahead.
