Premat Relishes 'Fantastic' Race

Alex Premat: "Yeah, for sure it was a really good race! I made a very good start and overtook some people, so when I came around I was fifth, and it was just incredible - this is like [Heikki] Kovalainen after Magny Cours!

"We went into the pitlane and I came out still fifth, which was not a problem for me, and I just tried to keep the gap to [Jose Maria] Lopez while Nico [Rosberg] and [Scott] Speed were in front. After the second safety car I was in front but it was really close [to Giorgio Pantano], so the pressure was strong! It was really good to win again just after Budapest - it's really perfect."

Q: The pressure Pantano put you under was immense - what was that like, lap after lap?

Premat: "Yeah, he pushed me really hard, but I pushed too - I did the fastest lap, then he did the fastest lap, then me, him, me, him. We both pushed really hard, and the gap was not much, like it would be one second then four tenths and so on. I think it made for a good race."

Q: Do you think, for you, it was a perfect race?

Premat: "Yeah, for sure - I think it was a really good race for me, but also for Giorgio. We had a really good strategy, we did a really good pitstop, and a really good race - lap by lap we could do the best time, and it was really fantastic."

Q: And even on the last lap he was pushing you - on turn one he tried very hard to get by you.

Premat: "Yeah, yeah, yeah - I arrived maybe a little early [into the corner], and he arrived really late, so it was really hard! But I thought then that I could stay in front of Giorgio, and I pushed really hard again, and I finally got to the finish."

Q: What were you thinking when you crossed the line?

Premat: "I was just thinking 'yes, fantastic!' And now I just hope to take some more victories."

Q: And the pace in the car was great for both you and Nico again.

Premat: "Yeah, for me and Nico we are very confident with the car, because the car under braking is really good. We have a good setup, and it feels really nice."

Q: Tomorrow are we going to see another battle as strong as this one?

Premat: "For sure - I just need to make a good start to get to the front, and I think this is a really good circuit for overtaking, and the car is really good under braking, so I am really confident about tomorrow."

Q: Any chance of you being the first guy to win twice in one weekend?

Premat: "Maybe - I think I should be!"
