Pantano tops first day of testing

The former Formula One driver eclipsed Timo Glock's best time from the morning session by four tenths of a second towards the end of the day.

The majority of the best times were set in the morning session, as a heavy storm meant that most of the drivers did little running in the afternoon.

Glock's morning time was the second best of the day, while Antonio Pizzonia made sure that the top three places were all filled former F1 drivers.

Javier Villa was a surprise package with the fourth fastest time of the day for Racing Engineering, while Pastor Maldonado and Franck Perera completed the top six.

Luca Filippi was next up for Super Nova, while Borja Garcia's second fastest time from the afternoon was good enough for eighth overall.

Lucas di Grassi was the top runner for reigning champions ART with the ninth fastest time, while rookie Kohei Hirate was 10th quickest.
