Pantano excluded from race two
Giorgio Pantano has been denied the point he scored for sixth place in Sunday's GP2 sprint race at Monza for ignoring instructions to pit from officials
Pantano, who won yesterday's feature race from pole position, had already spun in Sunday's encounter after a clash with Ricardo Risatti. He was battling his way back through the order when he hit Sebastien Buemi at the Roggia chicane.
Pantano's wing was dislodged in the collision, and stewards judged it to be dangerous as it was hanging off for the rest of the race.
Despite being shown a black and orange flag on four occasions, Pantano didn't pit as instructed.
His exclusion promotes Karun Chandhok to sixth position and the final point.
Stewards have yet to rule on race winner Timo Glock's separate incident, where he straightlined the chicane at Roggia. He claims that he did so to avoid an accident with Buemi, but could not give up the place as Luca Filippi got between him and Buemi after the corner.
"I can see it's not an easy decision," Glock told autosport.com after returning from the stewards' room. "But if there was to be a penalty, they should have given it to me there and then."
