Grosjean: GP2 title will be harder
GP2 Asia champion Romain Grosjean believes that his DAMS team will have to work hard if it is to stay out front for the main championship this year
The Renault Formula 1 reserve driver cruised to his second GP2 Asia title at Imola last weekend. But he does not expect to enjoy such an advantage over the rest of the field when the 2011 season kicks off in Turkey in May.
"The target is to win the main title," said Grosjean. "But there are many teams working hard and they will come back strong so we need to keep working as well.
"There will be so many rivals. ART are strong, and they are always one of the best teams. Then you have Addax, iSport, and Racing Engineering. But any driver can find something on a weekend and become a contender so you always have to work."
Grosjean took his first GP2 race win since Monaco 2009 last weekend. And now he hopes to deliver DAMS its first main series title in the category.
"We want to show everyone what we can do together," he added. "I want to help DAMS prove they are a top team, and we are on the way to doing it."
