Glock quickest at Paul Ricard

Former Champ Car and Jordan GP racer Glock switched to the team from BCN Competicion before the previous round at Silverstone, and immediately impressed by scoring his first podium of the year.

The German continued his impressive pace by recording a lap of 1:14.522 in this afternoon's test session, to record the fastest lap of the first day of GP2's only mid-season test.

Glock's iSport International teammate Ernesto Viso was nearly two tenths of a second slower after completing 73 laps, 21 more than Glock.

The configuration's current lap record holder Jose Maria Lopez was third quickest for Super Nova International ahead of runaway championship leader Lewis Hamilton.

Alexandre Premat and Andreas Zuber were the only other two drivers to lap in the 1:15 bracket.

With Nicolas Lapierre still not fit following his Monaco shunt, Portuguese driver Alvaro Parente was called up by Arden International to participate in the test. Parente tested for the team at the circuit in the winter, before signing for Victory Engineering in the World Series by Renault. He was 19th quickest this afternoon.

Testing continues at the circuit tomorrow.
