Glock not regretting pit call

Despite losing out to Arden's Bruno Senna in the third round of the GP2 series at Barcelona, iSport's Timo Glock has said he doesn't regret the team's decision not to pit during an early safety car period

Glock was one of only six cars not to pit at the first opportunity in the Barcelona feature race, following a multiple car crash on the opening lap.

But he points to his new position as championship leader as vindication of not gambling on a long second stint, like Senna did on his way to victory.

"I know people are saying 'iSport's decision ruined your win' but they are wrong," said Glock.

"It was the right decision with the championship in mind. We spoke on the radio a lot, deciding whether to stay in or stay out, but I am happy with the decision. At the end of the day we're a team and we make these calls together."

Glock's race pace mirrored his domination of qualifying, but despite lapping up to two seconds per lap faster than Senna at one stage, he could not overcome the deficit he suffered by not pitting early.

Glock did, however, criticise the time it took for the safety car to release the field again.

"They should have cleared the cars away a bit quicker," he said. "That would have given me more laps to pull out a gap, or to chase Bruno down at the end."
