Glock frustrated by car problems

Timo Glock, who has dominated this year's GP2 Series, feels the title could be wrestled from his grasp due to issues outside of his control, following his gearbox failure at the Hungaroring today

Glock is now just one point ahead of title rival Lucas di Grassi with four rounds remaining, and feels his chances are being jeopardised by technical failures outside of his iSport team's control.

"It's not in our hands, that's the problem," said Glock. "I'm not a guy to complain, or go out of my way to piss people off, but when I got behind di Grassi on the track today I was fighting my gearbox more than Lucas.

"We have all these poles and fastest laps, and we have a better car than him, but he keeps scoring points when I cannot because of these technical failures. It's very frustrating."

Glock and iSport chief Paul Jackson sat down with GP2 Series boss Bruno Michel, its technical director Didier Perrin and operations director Marco Codello after Sunday's race to air their dissatisfaction.

"We hope they will put the pressure on the suppliers," said Glock. "The parts are from Mecachrome, and there is nothing we can do to the gears except put them in the gearbox. All we can do then is keep our fingers crossed that it will not fail.

"This is nothing against GP2 - it's the best series outside Formula 1 - but I can't talk positively about this subject when it's not possible to."

Di Grassi, who has yet to win a race this year, also suffered a gearbox problem in today's race, but was able to finish fourth. Glock was forced to retire as his fourth gear stripped.
