Glock confident fortunes have changed
GP2 Series leader Timo Glock believes his pole position for Saturday's GP2 feature race at the Nurburgring demonstrates a turning point in his season after a recent run of dismal results
Glock doubled his series lead over nearest rival Lucas di Grassi with the two points for pole, and said his time advantage - over half a second - was an indicator of his determination to turn his form around.
"This was the best thing I could have done," he said of pole. "I wanted to show all the guys that we are still at the front of this championship and we are the team they will all have to beat.
"After all the trouble of the past weeks and the last four races, I wanted to show just how aggressive I am about winning this championship."
Glock was separated by hundredths of a second from di Grassi until his final run.
"I made a small mistake on my first set of new tyres in the first sector, so I knew I could go faster," he said.
"I was being careful under braking at Turn 1, so on my second set I attacked a lot more. The car wasn't perfect early on, but it was very strong in the middle sector, and that's where we gained most of the time."
