Fauzy joins Super Nova Racing

Malaysian Fairuz Fauzy has joined the Super Nova Racing team to compete with them in the 2006 GP2 season

Fauzy, who has also been racing for Team Malaysia in the A1 GP series, raced in GP2 in 2005 with the DAMS team, finishing in 26th position in the standings after failing to score any points.

"I am thrilled I have signed with Super Nova Racing" said Fauzy. "2005 was a year where everything was new to me, the series, the team and the circuits.

"Obviously, I learned a lot in a totally new environment and while I am disappointed that I did not score any points, I am glad I have finished in the top ten several times and would like to thank DAMS for their hard work."

The Malaysian is confident the 2006 season will be a lot better.

"I am expecting this year to be completely different. Super Nova International is a well established team at this level with several World Championships in the International Formula 3000 series and a third place finish in last year's GP2 series."

Super Nova team principal David Sears added: "We tested several drivers over the winter break and Fairuz was immediately among the top 3-4 drivers we wanted to run this year. We were very impressed by his driving abilities, the quality of his feedback and his technical knowledge of the car.

"I believe that 2005 was not really a reflection of where he should be in the ranking, and I am convinced that this year we will give him the car to show his talent and bring home a lot of good results."

The 2006 GP2 season kicks off in Valencia on 8th-9th April.
