Bruni happy to stay in GP2

Gianmaria Bruni believes he has made the right decision in staying in the GP2 series for a second consecutive year

The Italian driver, who competed in Formula One with Minardi before he joined GP2 last year, will race with the Trident Racing team as he aims to return to Grand Prix racing.

"I feel it's not negative for my career to do another season in GP2," Bruni told Autosprint. "I'm only 24 and I have plenty of time to show my worth. I preferred to stay in this series because it offers a starting line up of high quality."

Bruni endured a rather disappointing debut season in GP2, finishing in 11th position despite a strong start which included victory in Spain.

The Italian expects the competition to be closer this season.

"I'd say the level will be higher than in 2005, where there were 'only' six or seven strong drivers. From what I've seen, some very talented young debutants are coming, and they will join expert drivers like Alexandre Premat, Adam Carroll, Nelson Piquet and so on.

"The adventure with Trident is fascinating. Being with a debutant team and helping it grow is a new experience. I live in Milan and when I'm not working out I'm always with the team.

"F1 is still my aim. Shame about that season spent with the worst Minardi of the last few years."
