Anderson joins Racing Engineering
The Racing Engineering team have secured a big boost for the 2006 season by signing former Formula One designer and engineer Gary Anderson
The Spanish team have also confirmed that Briton Adam Carroll will join their driver line-up.
"What can I say, I think that with Adam and Gary we will have one of the strongest driver-engineer pairings in the championship," said team principal Alfonso de Orleans.
"Adam has been a driver whom we have always wanted to work with, while Gary is a great addition to our engineering team.
"I would also like to thank Repsol and Telefonica for allowing all this to come together and make us the team we are today. They have a firm belief that we will be doing a good job."
Anderson's career in motorsport spans over 30 years, having worked as technical director of the Jordan, Stewart and Jaguar Formula One teams.
"It's really great to join Racing Engineering, they are a very professional outfit and to work with Adam will be a great pleasure," said Anderson.
"He is a driver I have watched over the past few years and his ability and natural talent is second to none. Hopefully some of my 30 years experience will help him achieve his goal as a race driver in a top F1 team."
Carroll enjoyed a successful first season in GP2 in 2005, winning three races in Imola, Monaco and Spa Francorchamps, with a further three podium finishes.
Carroll will partner 18-year old Spaniard Javier Villa in the team.
"I am extremely happy with joining Racing Engineering," said Carroll. "I feel very confident about 2006 season and I am very comfortable straight away with everyone in the team. Gary and I will be a strong pairing already adding to a strong technical team.
"I would like to thank Alfonso, Respol, Telefonica and John Sweeney for giving me this chance. I will not let them down."
