Carroll set for GP2 switch

Briton Adam Carroll is set to make the switch to Racing Engineering in GP2, according to this week's Autosport magazine

The 22-year old is close to agreeing terms to drive for the Spanish outfit this season and his signing is set to herald the arrival of a big-name ex-F1 technical director at the double race-winning team.

Carroll, who had been linked with a second season of racing with Super Nova, said: "This will be very good for me and we will surprise a few people next season. Someone has to take the fight to ART, and I don't see why that can't be us - I'm well up for it."

Racing Engineering has profile backing from Spanish industrial giants Repsol and Telefonica, but needed a top-line driver to complement teenage protege Javier Villa, who will drive the second car.

Team boss Alfonso de Orleans said: "I'm thrilled. Adam is a great guy and an excellent driver and it will be one hell of a team. We're planning to fight for the title and I think we're doing well so far."
