Carroll Delighted after Tough Race
Adam Carroll was thrilled to be the first ever GP2 winner around the streets of Monaco, a win that came despite a collision with the wall which affected his car in the latter stages of the race
"I can't complain about that," Carroll beamed after the podium celebrations.
When asked if this was one of his best wins he replied: "It is indeed - it's the first GP2 race ever here, and it's not until you race here that you realise how tough the circuit is.
Carroll was delighted with his performance despite a problem in the latter stages of the race after a small error on his behalf: "Gimmi [Bruni] was quick early on but I thought I could go a bit quicker, so I pushed hard.
"I had a bit of a problem with a bent steering rod after kissing the wall at the quick right-left after the pool. It was pretty tough to deal with. I couldn't straighten out the steering wheel even on the straight, and I was just hoping I could hang on.
"For the last ten laps it was like torture, but the team did a great job for me and I just got there in the end."
