Carlin still seeking GP2 berth

Carlin Motorsport team boss Trevor Carlin hasn't ruled out entering GP2 next season despite failing in his bid to become the new team added to next season's line-up

Carlin, which runs cars in British F3, the World Series by Renault and A1 GP, had bid to become the new addition to the F1 feeder-formula grid - however that place was taken by Trident Racing, a new team set up by Gimmi Bruni's manager Maurizio Salvadori and AC Milan football star Clarence Seedorf.

However, one option that could still mean the Aldershot squad makes it onto the grid is that the squad buy out another team's cars and entry, an option Trevor Carlin has admitted he will explore.

"I was very disappointed by the decision," Carlin told autosport.com. "But we still want to be in GP2 next season, and we are looking at other ways now. It is possible for us to be on the grid next season if we buy another team's entry.

"Otherwise we will still continue as normal in F3 and the World Series by Renault."
