Salaquarda takes Brno pole

On home turf, Filip Salaquarda proved invincible in Formula Renault 3.5 qualifying at Brno to claim his second pole-position of the weekend

In a repeat of Saturday's opening race, Prague-based ISR again held a firm grip on the front row, with race one victor Esteban Guerrieri finishing a tenth adrift of the Czech racer's 1m41.013s benchmark.

"I started out on old tyres this morning and didn't really put it together," said Salaquarda. "When I got a red flag on my second set, I decided to wait in the pits at the restart while everyone else went out. I think that paid off because I was one of the last four cars on track."

The front row aside, the remainder of the grid contrasted significantly to the mandatory low-downforce race one. Comtec's Stefano Coletti, who departed from 17th on Saturday, will start third, ahead of Draco's rookie Nathanael Berthon.

On the third row, Junior Lotus Racing's Nelson Panciatici is set to line-up ahead of Walter Grubmuller. The performances marked a welcome turn of fortune for both men, who started in sixteenth and eighteenth positions respectively yesterday.

KMP's Victor Garcia interrupted proceedings with a spin at Turn 12, causing the red flags to be produced and resulting in a hectic final eight minutes of activity.

Championship leader Mikhail Aleshin is set to start from 16th, while closest title rival Ricciardo is a provisional 11th.
