Qualifying: Leinders/Montagny on pole

Championship leader Ricardo Zonta faces a tough task to retain his advantage after a troubled qualifying day at Monza

Zonta suffered an oil pump failure during the race one session and will start from 20th and last, while Bas Leinders, who's second in the overall standings, put his KTR car on pole.

Former British F3 race winner Narain Karthikeyan starts race one alongside the Belgian on the front row. After setting the pace in pre-race testing Britain's Justin Wilson finds himself back in a mediocre 10th.

Franck Montagny will line up third in for race one, but will start from the pole in race two, after coming up on top in the first wet session of the season. Andre Couto was second quickest in the wet. Jean Ravier was third and Wilson a much more competitive fourth.

Zonta, who used a new engine in the second session, and Leinders share the fifth row for race two, with the former F1 driver taking ninth and Leinders 10th.
