Free practice 1: Zonta leads the way
Former Formula 1 racer Ricardo Zonta set a scorching pace at Jarama in the first free practice session for this weekend's second round of the Telefonica World Series
The ex-BAR and Jordan driver's Gabord Competicion car lapped the Spanish track near Madrid in 1m23.392s, half a second clear of series leader Franck Montagny (Racing Engineering).
The KTR squad enjoyed a fruitful session, with Bas Leinders and Luciano Gomide ending the hour-long session third and fourth fastest. Narain Karthikeyan (RC Motorsport) and Zonta's Gabord team-mate Tuka Rocha were fifth and sixth respectively.
Struggling once again was reigning FIA Formula 3000 International champion Justin Wilson, who was only 11th quickest and a second slower than team-mate Montagny - just like he was in the opening round at Valencia.
Ireland's Damien Faulkner was 15th fastest, ahead of his Zele Motorsport team-mate Nicolas Filiberti.
