Carbone takes maiden win in race two
Fabio Carbone scored his maiden Formula Renault 3.5 series victory in the second race at the Hungaroring
The 27 year-old Brazilian's achievement with new team Ultimate-Signature is particularly notable given that the Anglo-French squad was assembled from scratch at the beginning of the season.
"Everything was new, the workshops and personnel," said Carbone. "We were struggling at the start of the season, but now everything is up and running well, and I am pretty sure we can continue this form to the end of the season."
Julien Jousse repeated his second position finish from race one. The French rookie's growing frustration of missing out on his first win was tempered by closing the gap to points' leader Giedo van der Garde in the title race.
The championship leader failed to score after spinning into a gravel trap, two laps from home, while running fourth.
Miguel Molina made amends for crashing into his Prema team-mate in race one, and rounded out the podium.
Carbone converted pole position into a first corner lead, and was only headed during the mandatory pit-stops. Molina slotted into second at turn one, passing a locked-up Jousse around the outside. Van der Garde held fourth, ahead of Silverstone winner Robert Wickens.
Prior to the race, van der Garde had expressed concerns that the race would feature frequent safety car periods, and the Dutchman pitted at the first opportunity on lap five.
