Buemi to fill in for Vettel at test
Sebastian Buemi will test for Carlin Motorsport's World Series by Renault team in the absence of Sebastian Vettel this week at Barcelona
Vettel is unavailable for the two-day test due to his Formula One commitments with the BMW-Sauber team in Melbourne, but Buemi will drive the car in his place on the second day of the test once he has completed a Formula Three test.
The Swiss driver will continue to race in the F3 Euro Series for a second season in 2007, but he has ties with Carlin after he raced with the team in the Macau Grand Prix last November.
He is also backed by Red Bull, who support both Vettel and Carlin's second driver Mikhail Aleshin.
Team boss Trevor Carlin said: "Vettel is busy fulfilling his F1 role, but I'm delighted to give Buemi the opportunity to drive the car instead."
Carlin believes that the disruption to the team's pre-season testing is only minor though, and he is expecting both race drivers to be strong when the season starts.
"After spending the winter moving factories, signing drivers, and preparing the cars, it's great to be back on track," he said.
"We have two very experienced drivers in Sebastian and Mikhail, and I'm confident we will be contenders for the championship this season."
