Ultimate target other series
New British Formula Three team Ultimate Motorsport are already aiming to progress into other championships in the future
The new outfit was officially unveiled at Silverstone today, but team owner Barry Walsh is hoping to expand the team into other areas of motorsport.
The team are joining the British F3 series with the brand new Mygale chassis, powered by a Mercedes engine. So far only Esteban Guerrieri has been confirmed for 2007.
Walsh said: "Firstly we want to be a serious team and take on the well-established teams in a short timescale.
"The aim then would be to move up to a higher series and we want to move jointly forward. F3 is a big step, but it is not the only step being considered."
Team principal Simon Armstrong added that the natural first progression would be to move into the F3 Euro Series as the team aims to break the dominance of Dallara in the category.
"Our aims are to surprise a few people, and to take on Dallara with some effect," he said.
"We want to get to the front of the grid as soon as we can, do well in the British championship and look on to the European championship and beyond."
The team are keeping their ambitions for this season in check though, and Walsh is aware that success will not come overnight.
"We want to win as soon as we can, but we are under no illusions as to the challenge we are taking on this season," he said.
